Rainy Chamonix 8/15

Our ride from Geneva to Chamonix

Plan Des Aguilles Refuge Hut at 2200 meters
After a long and stressful flying day, we finally made it to rainy chamonix. and settled into our new home for 17 days! It is 9:30am monday and the rain has finally stopped, with the weather forecast calling for clearing skies and back to normal summer weather by tuesday. Not sure how much, but quite a bit of snow has fallen high in the mountains, so it may be a day or two before big routes are safe again. We did manage to get some acclimatization yesterday with a few hours hike in rain/snow of the Balcon Nord from Plan des Aiguilles to the Montenver. We grabbed the train at the base of the mer de glace/montenvers train station back down to Chamonix which was lots of fun.

Another acclimatization day planned for today, hopefully with clearer skies. We expect to get wet, but still hoping to check out a few huts at the entrance to the mountains. Will update this evening......
